Roadheading works continue successfully at Donskoy GOK mine in Khromtau.

On Monday 24.07.2017 the roadheading team from the consortium company TOO SCHACHTBAU Kazakhstan (SBK) successfully reached the four thousand metre milestone during the morning shift. This achievement was made possible thanks to the outstanding commitment of the workforce on site, which included personnel from SBK and the two parent companies THYSSEN SCHACHTBAU and SCHACHTBAU NORDHAUSEN. Suppliers and partner firms also played their part in delivering this outstanding result.

Congratulations to everyone involved!

The previous months had seen performance levels of as much as 150 m of drivage a month being achieved on a number of occasions, a figure that was limited not by the available roadheading technology but by the capacity of the winding shaft.

SBK has been continuously managing roadheading operations in Khromtau since August 2013. The subsidiary currently has a total workforce of some 75 employees, of whom 15 come from Germany.

The client TNK Kazchrome is one of the world's leading producers of chromium ore and employs 19 thousand people worldwide. The company intends that production from its two main mines (Molodeshnaja and Tenth Anniversary of Kazakhstan Independence) will be increased from 3.7 to 6 million tonnes by the year 2020.

The TOO Schachtbau Kazakhstan orderbook still has huge potential, as the client is now proposing to develop the roadway network at the 480-metre horizon (at a depth of some 900 m) to a total length of 12 km. Further horizontal drivages are also being planned one level down on the 560-metre horizon, at a depth of 1,060 m.
