The last concrete for backfilling the Zollverein 12 shaft has been poured.
On March 12, 2025, the time had come. The last concreting section in the Zollverein 12 shaft was successfully installed. After the explosion-proof closure of the two shafts ZV 12 and 2 on March 3, 2023, backfilling began as planned. After a short start-up phase, the regular backfilling process began. This work was completed safely and smoothly with all partners involved after a good two years.
Here are some facts about the project:
- A total of 38,712.5 m³ of concrete was placed.
- The building material was delivered by 5,162 trucks.
- 477 cladding pipes, each with a diameter of 1,400 mm and a length of 6.00 m, were installed.
- The work was carried out in a 6-day operation with 3 shifts each.
The Zollverein site with its two shafts 2 and 12 is a so-called reserve site in RAG's mine water concept.
There are therefore no plans to raise the mine water. However, the Arnsberg district government has stipulated that preparatory measures for the possible lifting of mine water must be implemented.
Extensive conversion measures were carried out in the course of converting the shaft for backfilling. Our task for 2025 is to dismantle all the conversion work that had to be carried out to backfill the shaft.
These include:
- A transport winch
- One platform winch
- 120 tons of steel construction
- Various foundations
- 800 m of piping
- Concreting hall, etc.
In addition, approx. 65 tons of steel construction are to be reinstalled in accordance with the specifications of the monument protection authority and under the close supervision of the experts.
We are proud to have successfully completed this project to the full satisfaction of the client and are motivated to move on to the next project with a wealth of experience.
Glückauf!
