Another milestone reached.

On 22.06.2023 another milestone was reached in the course of the permanent backfilling of the last open shafts of RAG in the Ruhr area.

At about 10:40 a.m. the regular backfilling of the Concordia 6 shaft in Oberhausen was successfully completed. After 75 backfilling days (a total of about 6 months), 12,700 m³ of concrete placed and about 774 m of backfill, the preliminary final depth of 10 m below ground level was reached.

The remaining dismantling work on and in the shaft as well as the installation of a 10 m long start pipe for possible re-drilling will follow. Afterwards, the last 10 m of shaft and the ventilation channel can be backfilled.

This marks the end of another chapter of successful shaft conversion work by THYSSEN SCHACHTBAU GMBH. The mine, which was closed in 1968, now only has shaft 2, which is also currently being backfilled. In addition, THYSSEN SCHACHTBAU is currently backfilling the Amalie and Marie shafts as well as Zollverein 2 and XII.

A big thank you to all who have contributed to the success!

Glückauf!
