Challenge for Wilhelm Borgens on his bike over the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.

On his bike tour in the summer of 2021 from Hamelin to Venice, neither punctures nor broken ball bearings nor defective gears could stop him. Wilhelm Borgens mastered the almost 1,200-kilometre route in just under a week.

On the way, the old East-West border was crossed several times. The Danube and Salzach had to be bypassed due to high water.

A special stage was the high alpine road to the Großglockner with a length of 50 kilometres and a gradient of 12 %.

The tour statistics are as follows:

  1. Total distance:        1,170 km
  2. Total ascent:           9,000 m
  3. Total driving time:    51 hours
  4. Duration of the trip:  6.5 days
